Brain Strain 2026: Middle School Inter-House Debate Competition

On Tuesday, 5th May, 2026 St. Jude’s School hosted its much-awaited Brain Strain: Middle School Inter-House Debate Competition, it proved to be a stimulating platform for young minds to showcase their Critical Thinking and Public Speaking Skills. The Competition witnessed enthusiastic Participation, with Two Speakers representing each House - one speaking for the Motion and the other against it. The Debate was conducted in an extempore format, where Participants were given one hour to prepare on the thought-provoking Topic: This House believes Online friendships are as meaningful as Real friendships. The Students displayed remarkable confidence, clarity of thought and impressive Oratory Skills as they presented their arguments. Their ability to think on their feet and articulate their views effectively was truly commendable. The Judges appreciated the participants for their effort, preparation and engaging delivery. Among the speakers, Ishveen Kaur stood out and secured the position of Best Speaker for her compelling arguments in opposition to the motion. Gaurangi Purohit earned the Second Position with her strong and well-structured speech in favour of the Motion. Among their Four Houses, Howard House emerged victorious, securing the First Position, followed by Khanna House in Second Place. The Event was a great success and served as an enriching experience for all Participants, encouraging them to express their opinions confidently and think critically on contemporary issues.
