Voices of Eloquence : Senior Inter-Class English Elocution Contest The Senior Inter-Class English Elocution Contest was organised on the 18th of September 2026 to provide the Students of 9 to 12 a platform to showcase their confidence, articulation, expression and appreciation for English poetry. The Contest witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Senior Students presenting a diverse selection of powerful and thought-provoking poems. The Contest was graced by Ms. M. Gardner, Principal, St. Jude’s School, whose presence added to the significance of the Occasion. The performances were adjudicated by Mrs. N. Mehra, Mrs. G. Arya, Ms. S. Gupta and Mrs. A. Bhatia, who assessed the participants on various aspects of elocution, including pronunciation, voice modulation and presentation. The repertoire featured celebrated poets from different literary traditions. Among the notable selections were Be Quiet by Pablo Neruda, Still I Rise by Maya Angelou, The Slave’s Dream by H. W. Longfellow, The Ballad of Father Gilligan by W. B. Yeats, Enterprise by Nissim Ezekiel, Death of a Naturalist by Seamus Heaney, and Telephone Conversation by Wole Soyinka. Other selections included The Psalm of Life by H. W. Longfellow and If by Rudyard Kipling, to name just a few. The Event encouraged Students to appreciate poetry beyond the confines of the Classroom and connect with its varied emotions, ideas and expressions. The varied themes and poetic styles made the Contest an engaging literary experience and encouraged Students to connect with poetry beyond the Classroom. The Event celebrated not merely memorisation and recitation, but the art of bringing a poem alive through the spoken word. The confident performances of the young participants reflected their growing command of language, literary appreciation and enthusiasm for English poetry. The Results for the Senior Inter-Class Group Elocution were as follows: In the Group Category for Class 9, Class 9 Sci C were declared the Winners, followed by Class 9 Sci B, the First Runners-Up. In the Group Category for Class 10, Class 10 Com B were declared the Winners, followed by Class 10 Sci A, the First Runners-Up. In the Group Category for Class 11, Class 11 Sci B were declared the Winners, followed by Class 11 Sci A, the First Runners-Up. In the Group Category for Class 12, Class 12 Com A were declared the Winners, followed by Class 12 Sci C, the First Runners-Up. In the Individual Category for Class 9, the Winner was Aradhya Dhaulakhandi of Class 9 Sci A, followed by a tie between Harshita Naudiyal of Class 9 Sci B and Afsheen Ahsaan of Class 9 Com A, for the First Runners-Up position. In the Individual Category for Class 10, the Winner was Ishita Bhandari of Class 10 Sci A followed by Gauravi Gumbar of Class 10 Sci C, the First Runners-Up. In the Individual Category for Class 11, the Winner was Pranjali Uniyal of Class 11 Sci B followed by Sana Tabassum of Class 11 Sci A, the First Runners-Up. In the Individual Category for Class 12, the Winner was Yanhi Rautela of Class 12 Sci B followed by Arjit Solanki of Class 12 Sci C the First Runners-Up. The Event the concluded on a high note, celebrating the Students’ confidence, creativity and love for English poetry. It was a memorable showcase of talent and expression, leaving the audience with an appreciation for the power and beauty of the spoken word.
