St Jude’s U-19 Football Team Bags Runners-Up at CISCE Zonal Tournament
The St. Jude’s U-19 Football Team delivered a spirited performance at the CISCE Zonal Competition hosted by Shri Ram Centennial School, showcasing teamwork, resilience, and skill throughout the Tournament. The campaign began with a tightly contested group stage. In their opening match, St Jude’s faced Shishya Public School and both sides battled hard but couldn’t break the deadlock. The match ended in a 0-0 draw. The second group match saw St Jude’s take on Raja Ram Mohan Rai Academy. It was another intense encounter, with both Teams finding the net. Shaurya Nabiyal opened the scoring for St Jude’s, putting the Team ahead with a well-taken goal. The match eventually finished 1-1, but the point proved crucial in St Jude’s progression. With one Win and one draw from the group stage, St Jude’s advanced to the Semifinals where they met Mussoorie Public School. The Team came out focused and determined. Once again, Shaurya Nabiyal rose to the occasion, scoring the only goal of the match and guiding St Jude’s to a 1-0 victory. The Win sealed a place in the final and set up a rematch with Raja Ram Mohan Roy Academy. The Final was a high-pressure affair. Both teams created chances, but it was Raja Ram Mohan Roy Academy who found the breakthrough and clinched the title with a 1-0 Win. Despite the result, St Jude’s finished the Tournament as Runners-Up, a commendable achievement against strong Zonal Competition. Player in focus: Shaurya Nabiyal was instrumental for St Jude’s, scoring in both the group stage and the Semi-Final, and leading the attack with confidence.
