When we plant trees, we plant the seeds of peace and hope. Wangari Maathai In a step towards promoting environmental awareness and sustainable development, a Plantation Drive was organized at St. Jude’s School on the Thursday, the 23rd of July ,2026 in collaboration with Parashakti Society, a Dehradun-based, youth-led NGO committed to sustainable development, environmental conservation and ecological restoration. The Plantation Drive began with Ms. M. Gardner, Principal, St. Jude’s School, planting the first sapling, symbolizing the beginning of a meaningful journey towards a greener and healthier future. She inspired the Students to actively participate in the initiative. The Students from Classes 6 to 12, participated enthusiastically and planted a wide variety of saplings across the School campus. The plantation drive included environmentally significant trees such as Arjun and Ashoka, known for their ecological and medicinal importance. Beautiful flowering trees, including Champa, Jasmine and Mogra, were also planted to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campus and support local biodiversity. To encourage biodiversity and promote sustainable living, several fruit trees were planted as well, including Guava, Bael and Lemon. These trees will not only contribute to a greener environment but will also serve as a valuable learning resource for Students about the importance of native species, food security and ecological balance. The activity highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges. Students learned that every tree planted today is an investment in a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable tomorrow. The initiative also instilled a sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship among the young participants. The Plantation Drive concluded with a promise by the students to nurture the newly planted saplings and continue working towards environmental conservation. Through initiatives like these, St. Jude’s School reaffirms its commitment to developing environmentally conscious citizens who understand the value of preserving nature for future generations.
